About us

Hello and welcome to our new website. 


Although we have been established since 2009, and our interest is in the past, this new site brings us flying into the future. 


I am Veronica Martin B. Ed, a qualified teacher, freelance journalist, genealogist, author, former SENCO, former Lead Practitioner for Manchester and Education Consultant with 31 years of experience teaching in primary schools in Manchester. I have guest lectured at Manchester University. A graduate in History, Sociology and  Education, I have worked in Living History Education and museums around Manchester, including the award-winning Portland Basin, Ashton.

 

I am qualified in Sign language BSL and Italian. A keen local historian, I have been researching family history for many years.


Post Covid we are restarting our Writing workshops "Way with Words"  workshops where our Primary teachers  cover all writing genres with your pupils and also and  "Act One " performing arts workshops.  Sept 2022

What we offer


We are passionate about all things in the past and offer many services to help you in your quest. If we can not find anything within 5 days, there is no charge 


House Detectives 

We will research your house history and find out who lived there in the past. 


Family History

Our family history searches do not just involve births, marriages and deaths. We will look for any information about your ancestors too. 


Workshops in Schools and Museums 

With our partner company Yellow Brick Road Workshops, we provide workshops on all National Curriculum History topics to FS, KS1 and KS2 to Greater Manchester and beyond. We also do artefact handling sessions to schools in Greater Manchester and Cheshire ;- Viking, Egypt, WW1 , WW2, Seaside holidays, Queen's Jubilee, History of toys.


Events Days 

Our staff will attend your Historical Events Days in the role and wearing costumes. We also do Storytelling sessions and children's arts at Events Days.  Our Historical  Interpreters and Facilitators are History graduates.


Great Unknowns 

We are fascinated by the stories of ordinary people and you may see some of them here. Watch This Space!

PRIVACY POLICY

Yellow Brick Road respects your privacy at all times. Although we track locations and page views , we do not track individual visitors to our site or contact anyone who visits our site. We never pass on details of anyone who emails us, to other companies or pass on their email addresses.

Our Privacy policy has been updated. We only keep teacher names, emails and school names in our records- NOTHING ELSE. We do not have home details, dates of birth or home phone numbers.
